About the GMT-Master II
Created with Pan Am pilots in 1955 and rebuilt as the GMT-Master II in the 1980s, this is the definitive two-time-zone watch. The modern era made its bezels in hard, fade-resistant Cerachrom and gave the collection its collector nicknames: ‘Batman’ and ‘Batgirl’ in black-and-blue, ‘Root Beer’ in brown-and-black, the grey-black ‘Bruce Wayne’, the green-and-black ‘Sprite’ with its distinctive left-hand crown, and the two-tone ‘Zombie’. References from 2018 onward carry calibre 3285 with the independent 24-hour hand and a 70-hour power reserve.

Buying a GMT-Master II
GMT-Master II references hold their market value well, and complete, correctly described examples move quickly. Before buying, confirm the reference and dial code against the photographs, check that the movement number matches the paperwork where papers are included, and compare the asking price against recent sales of the same configuration – dial colour alone can move a GMT-Master II by thousands.
