About the Datejust
The Datejust arrived in 1945 as the first self-winding chronometer wristwatch to display the date in a window on the dial, and it has been Rolex’s archetypal watch ever since. The 36mm and 41mm references in this era combine Oystersteel with fluted or smooth bezels in gold, calibre 3235, and a choice of Oyster or five-link Jubilee bracelets. The vintage 16013 from the late 1970s and 1980s documents the same design language in an earlier generation, while the grey-dial ‘Wimbledon’ variants with green Roman numerals became the collection’s most sought-after colourway.

Collector Notes
Among Datejust collectors, configuration is everything: dial colour, bezel material and bracelet type define both desirability and value. This example’s dial is the defining feature.
